What did you expect of parenting?
Did you think it might be like your own childhood? Or what you saw in the experience of friends? Or what the world told you in movies or television or instagram posts?
Maybe you’ve discovered that the “expected” isn’t your path.
Perhaps you experienced a difficult pregnancy or birth. Or a diagnosis for your child. Maybe you find yourself caring not just for your child(ren) but also for a parent or a partner.
Do you find yourself spending your days advocating, running to appointments, focusing on everyone else? Are you finding that you are stressed, anxious?
Have you considered music therapy?
Therapy can help
The supporters need support too! Sometimes the best thing you can do as a parent is to look after yourself.
Music therapy can help
Did you know that music therapy can help with physical/ physiological symptoms, as well as new ways to work through your experiences? Concerns which can be addressed using music psychotherapeutic techniques include depression, anxiety, stress, grief, relationship difficulties, and many other issues. And no, you do *not* need to have any musical experience whatsoever to benefit!
What I offer
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). I offer music psychotherapy, informed by a selection of verbal therapy techniques such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
What to expect?
Sessions with me are very client-centred and will vary according to your wishes and goals. They might include musical experiences to reduce the symptoms of stress and anxiety, creating tools to use at home (such as a personalized playlist), writing, drawing, or creating new music and writing songs together, and the opportunity to share in a supportive and non-judgemental environment.
I offer a free 1/2 hour consultation. More details on policies and rates can be found here.
